About this project


This project was started years ago, shortly after I started using Game Maker Studio. It was my first experience with game programming, and I believe it really shows.

For a first project, I managed to incorporate quite a bit of content in this game so far; it will take a player approximately 5 hours or more to reach the end of it.

In addition, I tried to incorporate as many elements and mechanics from the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory series as I could, including:

  • Animal raising
  • Makers
  • Cooking and recipes
  • Fishing (still in a very basic form)
  • Mining
  • Upgradeable tools
  • Shipping
  • Foraging
  • House upgrades

The game's main plot--about townsfolk going missing and the player having to rescue them--was partly inspired by Dark Cloud for PS2, and partly emerged out of necessity, as I had a fairly large starting town (that could take upwards of a minute to compile) yet few NPCs to populate it with.
